Final Update Pending


The hour is nigh! After 6 years of development and playtesting, Aesir: The Living Avatars (yep that's a subtle name update too), is almost done.

A few updates:

  • The 3 C's of character creation have been merged in with Hirds and Truths to make the HENGE acronym. The components are all the same but since these decisions are all part of Session 0, it made sense to consolidate them into a single mnemonic. 
  • Milestone leveling. This made sense with the firm episodic structure of the game, and the pitfall PC's face of forgetting their XP triggers and falling behind other players. This way, everyone levels together at predictable intervals. To keep the XP interesting though....
  • XP as a currency. XP is still gained the same ways as before, but it is now spent to Combo your played cards, Weave the Web of fate, or take a Scar to avoid being taken out of a fight.
  • Simplified Combos. There are now 3 types of Combos that can be beefed up by having more cards in the combo (say, a sequence of 2, 3, or 4 cards if your hand is big enough). 
  • Added Siare Tables (oracle tables in other games) to help GM's create scenes on the fly
  • Edit passthrough for clarity, consistency, and balance.
  • Updated Hird sheets, character sheets, HENGE pages,
  • Added a player cheat sheet to the Appendix
  • And more!

I'll be commissioning art from local artists and seeking an editor for the final manuscript. My hope is publish version 1.0 in the next few months!
